Ingredients
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
-
1/2 cup granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
3 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
2 cups milk chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
-
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
-
Fold in the chocolate chips.
-
Scoop large balls of dough (about 1/4 cup each) and place on the baking sheet spaced apart.
-
Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are soft.
-
Press a few extra chocolate chips into each cookie while still warm.
-
Let cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Don’t overbake — the cookies continue to cook while cooling.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes if you want a thicker texture.
- You can substitute half the chocolate chips with chopped dark chocolate for a bolder flavor.
