- ½ cup unsalted butter, browned
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then let it cool for a few minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk brown butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Sift in flour, baking soda, and salt, then fold in the chocolate.
- Scoop dough into balls and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until golden brown on the edges.
- Let cookies cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, add an extra egg yolk.
- Dough can be frozen for up to 3 months and baked straight from frozen.
